GLEN COVE, NY — A private pool party at a posh Glen Cove hotel turned into the scene of a shooting that left three people injured on Sunday.
It happened at The Mansion at Glen Cove, a popular venue known for its black-tie events, around 5 p.m.
Glen Cove Police Det. Lt. John Nagle said officers responded to a call regarding shots fired and found three men suffering from gunshot wounds. All three victims — only identified as a security guard and two party-goers — were taken to an area hospital for their non-life-threatening injuries, Patch confirmed.
Authorities are still piecing together what happened at Sunday's event — a party for celebrity Big Fendi that drew between 150 and 200 guests. But Nagle says the security guard working the event was shot while trying to break up a disturbance in the lobby. It is not immediately known what the disturbance was about.
Police believe there was only one suspect, who fled the scene.
An investigation is ongoing.
