GLEN COVE, NY — Two businesses were forced to shut down after a fire in Glen Cove, fire marshals said.
At 4:14 p.m. on Tuesday, about 50 firefighters battled the blaze in a two-story commercial building on Glen Street, home to many businesses, including Southdown Coffee and Otherside Wine Bar, the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.
Although the damage was not severe, the businesses will be closed for the time being until the Department of Health advises on a reopening plan, fire marshals said.
The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes with mutual aid from Glenwood, Sea Cliff, and Locust Valley, all under the command of Chief Valeo, fire marshals said.
No injuries were reported, and the fire is under investigation by the NCFM's Office and NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad, fire marshals said.
