GLEN COVE, NEW YORK – Thanks to the efforts of Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore), Glen Cove's beloved Morgan Memorial Park has been revitalized. Lavine secured a grant for the City of Glen Cove totaling $500,000, which was used to complete rehabilitation of the full length of the seawall, the restoration of the large granite 'tea house' at the north end, and renovation of the brick pavilions adjacent to the seawall. The project received the approval of the office of New York State Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation in accordance with their regulations. Lavine was joined by city officials at the park for a formal announcement of the grant and to get a first-hand look at the completed work.

Lavine said: "I am incredibly pleased to be able to work with the city on this project to provide upgrades to a place that is so meaningful to this community. The seawall, which had been crumbling, is vitally important as it prevents saltwater infiltration of our aquifer. It, along with the pavilion and tea house, look so much better now that they have been restored."
