GLEN COVE, NY — The City of Glen Cove Police Department National Night Out, taking place on August 4, has announced the honoree.
Executive Director of the YMCA at Glen Cove Peter Foster will be the honoree at the annual community event. The event will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Bridget Street in Downtown Glen Cove.
National Night Out is celebrated across the nation as a way to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and residents.
City officials said Foster joined the YMCA as a camp counselor more than thirty years ago, "where his enthusiasm and compassion quickly made him a fixture in the lives of local families."
National Night Out Chairperson Roberto Telese said choosing Foster as this year's honoree was an easy decision.
"Peter is being honored for his exceptional leadership and dedication to serving our community through programs that support youth, families, and community partnerships," Telese said. "His energy, heart, and commitment to our children make him a truly deserving honoree."
Mayor Pamela D. Panzenbeck added that his leadership has touched the lives of countless families.
"Peter embodies the spirit of Glen Cove — service, compassion, and community pride," Panzenbeck said.
National Night Out is an important annual event that brings together officers and neighborhood residents, Chief of Police Christopher Ortiz said.
"It's a night that strengthens trust, celebrates our families, and reminds us how powerful our partnership with Glen Cove truly is," Ortiz said.
The free event will feature bounce houses, family-friendly activities, public safety demonstrations, music, refreshments, and more.
