During a four-day orientation at Finley Middle School, the newcomers met principals, learned about district expectations, and toured the Glen Cove community to get familiar with the students and neighborhoods they will serve.
   

• Glen Cove condo owner says home is teetering close to cliff's edge after rain causes severe erosion (news12.com) — A Glen Cove condo owner in the Breton Hills complex says severe erosion behind his unit has turned a backyard slope into a cliff just feet from his home, raising safety and property value fears. The condo management company insists the building isn't in immediate danger and says the board is still determining how to fix the problem and who's responsible.
   

• Lifeguards, Residents Rescue Raccoon From North Shore Waters (patch.com) — A morning walk at Glen Cove's Morgan Memorial Park Beach turned dramatic when local lifeguards and beach staff helped rescue a terrified baby raccoon trapped above the bay's waves. Working together with residents, they carefully coaxed the animal onto a board and brought it to safety, leaving onlookers proud of the quick-thinking Glen Cove teens who usually save people, not wildlife.
