Glen Cove Cat Rescued From 'Uninhabitable' Home Finds Forever Family

GLEN COVE, NY — After 155 animals were rescued from a Glen Cove home over the summer, one cat found a home with Susan Tripp.

Tripp adopted Daisy, a gray-and-white tabby cat at about four months old, in June.

"I've always had a cat growing up and wanted to give one of these babies a loving, furever home," she said. "Daisy is loving, playful, and loves to be cuddled."

Daisy was one of the 155 animals that were rescued on June 10 from what Glen Cove Police described as an "uninhabitable" home. Two of the animals rescued were dogs, and the remainder were cats, and one woman was arrested, police said.

Trapping efforts at the Glen Cove home continued into the end of June, and Detective Brian Wasserman with NCSPCA previously told Patch he and his team were committed to rescuing all of the animals.

Tripp has adopted animals from her local shelter before, but Daisy is the first she's welcomed into her home from a situation like this.

The Nassau County SPCA and Cove Animal Rescue "did an incredible job" at City Hall and at the shelter, housing more than 100 cats and kittens, many of whom were sick, Tripp said.

"Our City Hall employees and community were extremely giving with donations of cat food, supplies, and toys," she said.
