Prosecutors say surveillance showed her doing everyday physical tasks despite repeatedly asserting she was totally disabled, and she now faces up to 20 years in prison.

2. 2 Dogs Rescued From Glen Cove House Fire, 3 People Now Without Home: FD (patch.com) β A Glen Cove garage fire on Stuart Drive Sunday afternoon displaced three residents but saw two dogs safely rescued and treated for smoke inhalation. About 60 firefighters from Glen Cove and neighboring departments brought the blaze under control in 40 minutes, and local officials are now investigating the cause with the building department notified.

Queens man indicted, five others charged in large-scale narcotics bust in Nassau (longislandpress.com) β Nassau prosecutors say a Queens man led a fentanyl trafficking ring that allegedly moved drugs into several communities, including Glen Cove, and involved a Glen Cove resident among six people charged. Investigators recovered large quantities of narcotics, cash, and firearms, and all defendants, who pleaded not guilty, are due back in court later this month and early October.
