Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges in Glen Cove Shooting

A 47-year-old man is in critical condition after he was grazed in the face by a bullet Thursday morning, police say.

UPDATED Friday at 1:15 p.m.: A New Jersey man faces attempted murder charges after he shot another man in the face inside a Glen Cove parking garage Thursday morning, police say.

According to authorities, officers responded to shots fired at a parking garage, located at 200 Carney St., at 10:57 a.m. and observed Troy Timmons, 48, of Chesterfield, New Jersey, running from the garage while carrying a handgun.

Officers were able to place Timmons under arrest without incident and recovered the handgun following a brief foot pursuit.

An investigation revealed Timmons fired multiple shots inside the garage, grazing a 47-year-old man's face, police say. Police found the man suffering from serious injuries, including trauma to his head and face. He was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Timmons was also transported to a hospital to be treated for shortness of breath.

Timmons was charged with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He will be arraigned when medically practical.

Glen Cove Police said reports of an active shooter and several people hurt was a result of misinformation put out on social media.

A source told Patch several nearby businesses were under lockdown following rumors of an active shooter. Nearby roads were also closed off while authorities investigated the situation.
