Breastfeeding parents can receive guidance, support, and connect with trained professionals and other families. National Public Health Week is in April, so we are delving into the subject for this month's Walk with a Doc! Join us on Thursday, April 16th at 9:00 am&nbsp;as we learn about the importance of health education and risk reduction from Dr. Barbara Keber, Chair of Family Medicine at Glen Cove Hospital, Northwell Health. Walk with a Doc is a collaboration between Northwell Health and Age-Friendly Glen Cove which aims to disseminate reliable health-related information to the public, make people more comfortable engaging with healthcare professionals and get folks moving. For April, we plan to walk outdoors at Garvies Point Esplanade after meeting at the Ferry Terminal, but in the event of inclement weather, we will take the walk indoors to the Glen Cove Boys and Girls Club at Lincoln House. Local transportation to our walking location is available for members of the Glen Cove Senior Center by inquiring at the Center's front desk.

Department and EMS. The biannual “Shed Your Meds” drug reclamation 
program helps residents properly dispose of prescription medications and
 medic al supplies that are no long needed or have expired and is one of
 the many strategies used to tackle drug abuse in Glen Cove. The safe 
disposal of unused and expired drugs supports the need to eliminate the 
risk of these drugs getting into the hands of children.

Step back in time on Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 PM with Tom Hawkins of the Matinecock Quaker Meetinghouse&nbsp;for an illuminating afternoon exploring one of the North Shore’s oldest and most influential faith communities.This FREE program (donations are appreciated) features a deep-dive lecture into the&nbsp;300-year history of Quakerism&nbsp;in our region—from the meetinghouse’s architectural simplicity to the Quakers’ enduring commitment to peace and social justice. Following the talk, we will take a short walk over to the&nbsp;historic Matinecock Quaker Cemetery, where Tom will lead a guided tour of the grounds, sharing the stories behind the modest headstones and the legacy of the families buried there.Event Highlights:
