Captain’s Cove at Garvies Point to be Closed for Months

The spot is closed to the public starting Friday, Sept. 9.

Attention Glen Cove residents: Captain’s Cove and the Garvies Point esplanade area will be closed to the public for the next few months starting Friday, Sept. 9.

These spots will be closed as protocol to get ready for the construction and upcoming sale of the Garvies Point property. The area will be secured and only authorized personnel will be permitted on the property, the City says.

“We appreciate the support of the Glen Cove community and apologize for any inconvenience that may occur for our residents who enjoy their walks along Glen Cove Creek,” Mayor Reggie Spinello said in a press release.

Captain’s Cove property will be fenced in from the Glen Cove Ferry Terminal to Mercandante Beach while the boat ramp and access to Hempstead Harbor Club will remain open.

The Glen Cove Industrial Development Agency will issue an update on public access to the Captain’s Cove area once the activities are completed.
