Construction Worker Dies After Fall From Nassau Work Site: Police

The 26-year-old Huntington Station man fell from a roof and landed on the concrete floor at a site on Garvies Point Road, cops say

GLEN COVE, NY — A construction worker died Friday morning after a fall from a roof at a job site in Glen Cove, police said.

Glen Cove police were called to vacant warehouse on Garvies Point Road just before noon, and officers were directed to the inside of the warehouse where a man had just fallen from the roof onto the concrete floor, according to Lt. John Nagle.

Police and Emergency Medical Services began rendering aid and the man was airlifted to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset by the Nassau police's Aviation Bureau, but the man succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital, Nagle said.

Noe Diaz-Gámez, 26, of Huntington Station suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the hospital by a physician, according to Nassau police.

Gámez working for a roofing company and was replacing parts of the metal roof when he fell, Nagle said.

The scene was investigated by Glen Cove's Detective Division, as well as Nassau police's Homicide Bureau, and members of the Occupational Safety Health Administration, according to Nagle.

"After a thorough police investigation, the death has been determined to be accidental in nature," Nagle said in a statement.
