DeRiggi-Whitton Helps Secure Funding For West Shore Road Repaving
County approved moving forward on final phase of repaving West Shore Road, Mill Neck.
Although Mill Neck is no longer part of her Legislative District, Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton still responds to requests from her previous constituents when the need arises.
During a recent meeting of the County Legislature, approval was given to proceed with the final phase of the repairs to West Shore Road in Mill Neck. “We fixed the most dangerous parts of this road first,” Leg. DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I am sure that, as has been done prior to past roadwork projects, there will be local meetings to help residents be better prepared throughout the construction schedule.”
“I’m pleased that we were able to secure this funding to complete the job, and that the funds are coming from the State rather than the County having to borrow the money,” DeRiggi-Whitton added. “I am thankful that West Shore Road was chosen to benefit from this available funding.”

Because the County was able to secure funding through the New York State Consolidated Local Street & Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS), the $6.9 million cost is being incurred by the State, not the County. An additional $1.6 million for this project is being funded by PAVE NY. Since the funds were just approved, the start date for construction have not yet been confirmed by Delia’s office.
