Come, one and all, to the Bards Reading From Page One poetry reading series, sponsored by The Bards Initiative! We run at Page One on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, with a new feature every time, followed by an open read where everybody's welcome to read with open arms!
Bards Reading From Page One is a fun, intimate reading, with few formailites and even fewer rules. We welcome all forms and styles of poetry equally, including whatever yours might be, so there's no excuse not to come by!
This time, our feature is the hostess of NYC's Stark Reality Open Mic, and one of the few poets I consider even crazier than I am, Vivianna Grell! Her poetry's so awesome, we've booked Page One's party room to make sure we can go all out! Open read sign-up is at 7:30, and the feature goes on at 8, so don't miss it!
All Bards Initiative readings are free to attend, but we greatly appreciate any donations you can give us. In addition, head chef and co-owner Jeanine DiMenna offers up a special $5 "bar menu" at all of our readings (if you'd prefer to see any of the other menus, please ask your server). We highly encourage you to come, relax, and enjoy some dinner with your poetry.
The Bards Initiative is a poetry organization founded in June of 2010 (currently in the process of incorporating and seeking 501(c)3 status). We are dedicated to bringing Long Island poetry into the new age by opening and running venues and events, promoting poetry as a vehicle for various social causes and themes (mainly in cooperation with Local Gems Poetry Press through various anthologies and other projects), and ensuring the future of the Long Island school of poetry by teaching aspiring poets about the Long Island's vibrant and dynamic poetry community.
NOTE: This is an uncensored poetry reading series. By attending, you accept that we are not liable for any offense you may take to the poetry you hear.
Thank you, and I hope to see you all at our readings.
