Nassau County Legislator Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove) recently made arrangements with Glen Cove Police Chief William Whitton to establish a program for the proper disposal of unused and expired prescription drugs. The program will be held on June 26 at the Glen Cove Police Department from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The initiative, county officials said, offers residents a safe and proper place to dispose of harmful drugs. Unused prescription pain medications, such as Vicodin and Oxycontin as well as many over-the-counter cold remedies are known to be gateways to teenage drug abuse.
