If I Forget You, O Yerushalayim - The Fall and Rise of Jerusalem

Famed Cantor Ramón Tasat Performs with the Kolot HaLev Choir, Pianist/Cantor Natasha J. Hirschhorn and Cantor Gustavo Gitlin

Internationally-renowned Ramón Tasat, who has sung throughout this county, in European capitals and at important music festivals throughout the world, stars in If I Forget You, O Yerushalayim - The Fall and Rise of Jerusalem on Sunday, June 26 at 5 pm at Congregation Tifereth Israel (CTI) in Glen Cove. Cantor Tasat leads a musical tour of historical Jerusalem in a concert that features the Kolot HaLev (Voices of the Heart) Choir, the pianist and cantor, Natasha J. Hirschhorn, and CTI’s own Cantor Gustavo Gitlin. The event is a fundraiser to benefit CTI’s Hebrew School and is the highlight of Cantor Tasat’s June 24-26 scholar-in-residence program at CTI.

Ramón Tasat, a native of Buenos Aires, is widely esteemed for his interpretations of the music and cultural traditions of the Sephardic people. He trained in five countries and wrote his doctorial thesis on the music and poetry of the Jews of Tangier, Morocco. In addition to his performances centered on the rich Sephardic culture, Cantor Tasat has toured Europe with the Robert Shaw Chorale and has frequently performed on radio and television. He has recorded and published widely on Jewish music. Cantor Tasat is the director of the cantorial school at the Academy for Jewish Religion and is also the musical advisor of the Berkely Richmond Jewish Music Festival. He is president of Shalshelet: The Foundation for New Jewish Liturgical Music.

Tickets for If I Forget You, O Yerushalayim - The Fall and Rise of Jerusalem, at CTI on Sunday, June 26 at 5 pm, are $18.
