Swingtime Big Band is a 20-piece ensemble fresh from its
fifth appearance at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing. Led by Steve Shaiman, the band presents Big Band classics by such legends as Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and Duke Ellington, to name just a few. Special for the 2012 summer tour is a 100th Birthday tribute to Les Brown and his Band of Renown. The band’s performance features Bobbie Ruth, a singer in the great tradition of Big Band vocalists Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald and Helen O’Connell.
So come on down to Morgan Park and enjoy a wonderful evening of family entertainment under the stars. Bring a blanket or chairs and picnic if you wish. Children are welcome.
