Through the efforts of Jean and Alberta Hersey, our foundation has been able to provide to the needy in our area by way of clothing, food or supermarket gift cards, and emergency funds. It has become a daunting endeavor in these recent economic times. The last several years have been a hardship for so many, and in some cases, our very own neighbors. We want to continue this work of love, and believe everyone who knew Jean Inez, admired her for continuing the works her mother began. More than 60 years ago Alberta, with the help of the parishioners of St. John’s Church of Lattingtown and the then Pastor & Mrs. Lowell started the “Hand of Love”. In the 1980’s Lional Goldberg & Abe Krasnoff were instrumental in recognizing Alberta’s work and she was bestowed an Honorary Degree in Human Letters from Long Island University.
