Family Donates Mural for Glen Cove Hospital’s Rehabilitation Unit

Glen Cove Hospital rehabilitation patients will now have a beautiful seascape mural.

Glen Cove Hospital rehabilitation patients will now have a beautiful seascape mural to focus on during physical therapy exercises thanks to the Mink family.

Frederick Mink was cared for at Glen Cove Hospital in his final days of lung cancer and his daughters were so appreciative of the compassionate care he received that they worked with Splashes of Hope to donate a mural for the hospital’s rehab unit.

Splashes of Hope is a nonprofit group that creates paintings for health care facilities to brighten the patient and visitor experience. The mural sponsored by the Mink Family was matched by funding from Splashes of Hope's Bay Cruise in honor of Mr. Mink, who was Man of The Year in 2015. The family business, FM Brush Co. provided Splashes of Hope artists' paint brushes of all shapes and sizes to create the mural.

“Having this mural will help our rehabilitation patients focus on their goals, which may even include walking around a beautiful scene like the one depicted on the wall, and hopefully better and more quickly achieve those aspirations,” said Susan Kwiatek, DNP, executive director of Glen Cove Hospital. “We are very grateful to the Mink family for this donation and Splashes of Hope for their wonderful work.”
