People of all ages are invited to "Celebrate the Season."

The holiday season is around the corner and the City of Glen Cove has many festivities and events planned.
Residents can look forward to the 100th Anniversary of Glen Cove’s Tree of Light, the First Annual Merry Tree Festival, the Winter Wonderland Event, Milk & Cookies with Santa and more.

These holiday activities have been organized by the City of Glen Cove, Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Improvement District.
“We are excited to offer an array of holiday events and activities that appeal to children of all ages,” Mayor Reggie Spinello said in a press release. “Glen Cove is the perfect holiday destination as there are great shops and boutiques, restaurants and with the 100th Anniversary of our Tree of Light, we are introducing our first Merry Tree Festival. Local businesses have sponsored and will creatively decorate over 40 living Christmas Trees for a spectacular display on School and Glen Streets.”

Saturday, November 28
- Celebrate the Season in the City of Glen Cove with a fun-filled day of holiday frolic, shopping and joy at the Glen Cove Village Square, School Street, Glen Cove;
- 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Horse & Carriage Rides sponsored by the Glen Cove B.I.D.
- 4:45 p.m./Dusk: 100th Anniversary Celebration of Glen Cove’s Tree Of Light with Tree Lighting and unveiling of City’s first annual Merry Tree Festival, choir performance, free pictures with Santa courtesy of NSLIJ at Glen Cove, ornament crafts and hot cocoa provided by Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton. Guests are asked to bring a food or toy donation to be distributed to Glen Cove charities.
Sunday, November 29 – January 6, 2016
- Glen Cove’s First Annual Merry Tree Festival – take a walking tour of downtown Glen Cove and see over 40 “living” holiday trees that have been custom decorated by area businesses. Open daily and after Jan. 6 all trees will be planted in City parks/properties and five trees will be designated to start Glen Cove’s first Christmas Tree Farm.
- Weekend activities in Dec. will feature musical entertainment, holiday shopping and delicious dining options in Downtown Glen Cove, Glen, School and Bridge Streets
Friday, December 4
- Blessing of the Crèche; Glen Cove Village Square at 7 p.m.
Saturday, December 5
- Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce’s Winter Wonderland at the Glen Cove Mansion
- Breakfast with Santa from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., holiday shopping with over 90 area vendors, professional ice carving, horse and carriage rides, a performance by the GCHS Select Chorale, gift wrapping services, hot cocoa & fresh roasted chestnuts and arts & crafts. Sunday, December 6
- U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys 4 Tots collection rally sponsored by Martino Auto Concepts & Exotics4Life. From 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at 1 School Street, Glen Cove residents can donate new unwrapped toys to be donated to the less fortunate.
- The annual Grand Chanukah Menorah Lighting at the Glen Cove Village Square - School & Glen St. will be lighted this year on Sunday, Dec. 6th at 4:30 pm. The message of light over darkness and good over evil has never resonated more since the recent horrific terror attacks. There will be lively music, traditional ‘sufganiyot’, doughnuts, prizes for the kids along with Chanukah Gelt & dreidels. The “dreidel inflatable” will give the kids a chance to bounce around in a full size dreidle moon bounce. The children will have an opportunity to make a Chanukah craft. - Hanukah celebration Lunch, 12 noon, Glen Cove Senior Center, 130 Glen St.
Friday, December 18
- Glen Cove Youth Bureau’s Milk & Cookies with Santa at 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. at Glen Cove’s City Hall, Main Chamber, 9 Glen Street. Each registered family will receive a free photo with Santa; enjoy a holiday reading and delicious treats. This is a free event and reservations are required for children from infancy to age 10 and their families. Call the Glen Cove Youth Bureau at 671-4600 starting Dec. 1 for reservations. The event is for Glen Cove residents only and space is limited.
Saturday, December 19
- Hot cocoa sponsored by Panera Bread at the Glen Cove Tree of Light, Village Square, from 1-3 p.m.
Monday, December 21
- Christmas celebration lunch, 12:00 noon, at the Glen Cove Senior Center, 130 Glen Street
