Glen Cove 350th Anniversary Logo Winner Announced

Congratulations to Alex Papas, who came up with a unique design for the City of Glen Cove.

The Glen Cove 350 Committee selected the custom design of Alex Papas as the The Glen Cove 350th Anniversary logo winner.

The designer will have his design featured on City-reated stickers, banners, events, signs and more over the next two years.

Papas, who has been with Glen Cove Printery for nine years, said he did a lot of research into other cities' anniversary logos to come up with a unique design for the City of Glen Cove. He chose a clean design that was legible and had the 350 number as the focal point.

“Glen Cove has a strong Native American history so I felt an arrow with a Native American symbol for prosperity as the point,” Papas said. “Sailboats and their reflections make up the tail feathers of the arrow giving the nod to the waterfront that has been a major part of Glen Cove. Lastly the colors are for the earth, sun and water.”

Glen Cove Mayor Reggie Spinello said he was pleased with the design. “The new logo for Glen Cove’s 350th Anniversary does an outstanding job of visually capturing the city’s bright, bold and colorful future while providing a symbolic nod to our historic past,” he said.
