Glen Cove Awarded $553,000 Grant to Enhance Parks and Sports Facilities, Boosting Tourism

Glen Cove, NY (January 8, 2025) – The City of Glen Cove is making significant strides in improving its recreational spaces and attracting tourism with a $553,000 grant from the Nassau County Boost Tourism Program thanks to funding provided by County Executive Bruce Blakeman. The grant will fund upgrades to parks and sports facilities, enhancing Glen Cove’s standing as a premier destination for sports and recreation.

Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck highlighted the importance of this investment: “By upgrading our recreational facilities, we’re creating opportunities to host more baseball and softball tournaments, attract golfers and golf outings, and establish our city as a sports and recreation hub.”

Upgrades to Parks and Sports Facilities

The projects funded by the grant include:

• Stanco Park: Building on last year’s improvements to the basketball courts, this year’s upgrades will focus on the tennis courts, ensuring the park remains versatile for sports like tennis, pickleball, handball, and basketball. Stanco Park also features a playground and a restaurant, making it an ideal location for residents and visitors.
• Baseball Fields: Enhancements to the backstops at city baseball fields will improve the experience for local teams and provide high-quality facilities for regional tournaments.
• Golf Course: Improvements to the driving range wall at Glen Cove’s golf course will attract golfers and elevate the appeal of golf outings.

“These improved facilities will enable us to host Long Island games and tournaments, bringing in teams and spectators from across the region,” Mayor Panzenbeck added. “These upgrades not only enhance Glen Cove’s appeal as a destination but also benefit our community and local businesses.”
