Junior Youth of the Month, Yaritza, was chosen for her positive attitude, helpful nature, and enthusiastic participation in Club activities. At nine years old and in the fourth grade, Yaritza has already developed a love for reading and writing. Her favorite book series is Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park, with illustrations by Denise Brunkus. While she’s still exploring her future career options, she looks forward with excitement to her formative years and graduating high school. Yaritza has been a proud Club member since first grade, cherishing the connections she’s built with staff and friends alike. Her favorite sport is volleyball, and she also enjoys playing video games during her free time. At the Club, she diligently completes her homework and actively participates in activities in the gym, learning center, and art room. Reflecting on her time at the Club, Yaritza shared, “The Club means everything in my heart, and it’s really fun here.”

Senior Youth of the Month, Katherine V., is celebrated for her kind, respectful demeanor and natural leadership abilities. With a passion for helping others live healthier lives, Katherine aspires to a career in medicine. Her tendency towards math and science is paving the way toward her goal, and she’s also exploring new interests, like learning Italian. A swimmer, avid volleyball player and talented violinist, Katherine balances her time between creative and athletic pursuits. She has a keen eye for fashion and jewelry, enjoys playing video games, and hones her vocabulary through word search puzzles. Her favorite book is Drama by Raina Telgemeier, and she treasures spending time at the mall, park and playing with her cousins and sister. Though Katherine only joined the Club at the start of the school year, it has already made a significant impact on her transition from elementary to middle school. At the Club, she completes her homework with the support of helpful staff and appreciates the variety of activities offered. “I went from being unsure to loving it here,” Katherine shared. “I really enjoy coming to the Club and all the different spaces—not just being stuck in one room.”
