Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Celebrates National Teen Driver Safe
JT Automotive of Glen Cove teams up with Glen Cove Boys & Girls Clubs.

JT Automotive of Glen Cove recently teamed up with Glen Cove Boys & Girls Clubs teens for National Teen Driver Safety Week, an initiative focused on helping youth become better equipped and more responsible drivers.
JT Automotive gave an overview of the importance of daily and monthly car maintenance, and owner Joe Trimarchi personally held a hands- on demonstration on how to change a tire. Born and raised in Glen Cove, Joe has a longstanding history in auto mechanics and has been in business in Glen Cove for more than 35 years. “No one knows when a flat tire is going to happen, but when it does we want young drivers to be prepared,” said Joe. “Our participation is all about teaching teen drivers two things: how to respond in a way that is safe and how to problem solve.”
Club teens were equally enthusiastic and eager to engage in the tire changing lesson. “Participating in National Teen Driver Safety Week was an opportunity to educate our Teens on the ins and outs of driver safety and car maintenance, a major responsibility that if not taken seriously could be dangerous and costly,” says Franca Trunzo, Executive Director. “Many of our Teens are at an age when they are preparing to take their permit or road test—eager to hit the road, which makes the lessons a timely and valuable one and we are grateful to Joe and JT Automotive for their efforts in teaching our kids about driver safety.”

National Teen Driver Safety week took place on October 15-October 21. Established in 2007, it began after a series of unfortunate automobile accidents involving Pennsylvania High School Students. The initiative was supported by safety traffic specialists at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. National Teen Driver Safety Week (NTDSW) is conducted annually during the third full week of October in the United States.
