Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club January Youth of the Month

Anastasia E. and Ashley A. started off the New Year on a high note thanks to their excitement for new winter programs and events at the Club

Ashley is 9 years old and joined the after school program as a fourth grader. Since becoming a member, Ashley has made her imprint fast and developed a meaningful connection with Arts Coordinator Ms. Victoria (Marchetta), often helping in the Art Room whenever she can. Ashley loves her time at the Club, whether it's learning a fun new step in the dance studio or participating in fun, engaging activities with her friends in the learning center. Ashley says the Club has been helpful in motivating her to try new things. "I love coming to the Club! Every day I see my friends and we get to do cool things together. Painting in the Art Room and exercising in the Gym is the best,” says Ashley.

Anastasia, 12, has a real passion for problem solving and sharing her creativity through art. Like Ashley, this is Anastasia's first year at the Club. She shares her interest in becoming a lawyer, “I like to argue the point, and I get great practice with my younger siblings.” Anastasia regularly enjoys interacting with staff, forming a close bond with Membership Coordinator Ms. Katlyn (Campos) who she says is always smiling and encouraging her to do her best. Anastasia most enjoys the variety of activities and trips offered through the Teen Department, sharing in attending Round 1 Arcade with her friends as one of her favorite experiences. “The Club is all around awesome! I love connecting with staff and learning new skills that will prepare me for now and my future,” says Anastasia.

Congratulations to Ashley and Anastasia, GCBGC Youth of the Month for January!
