Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club June Youth of the Month

Luis G. and Cayden P. have been named the Youth of the Month for June.

Junior Youth of the Month, Luis G., is nine years old and in the fourth grade. He has been a member of the Club for two years and he considers his experience to be the “best ever and nothing can top that,” said Luis. During his membership, he has taken full advantage of the many programs the Club has to offer including art, technology and digital programs along with all the sports and fitness activities in the gymnasium. His favorite sport is soccer which he plays at the Club and with a traveling team. “I would like to become a professional soccer player when I grow up and play for F.C. Barcelona,” said Luis, who is a practical young man with a penchant for math. Just in case his dream of becoming a professional sportsman does not pan out, he plans on taking a more entrepreneurial direction in the construction business. When not playing soccer or sports, Luis likes to help the staff. “I feel like I am really a member of the Club family when I am asked to help,” said Luis, who puts a great deal of importance on family and family values, “I like to spend time and be with my family.”

Senior Youth of the Month, Cayden P. is 15 years old and in the ninth grade. He is a self-assured, confident and respectful teen describes himself as having a funny personality. Cayden likes and does well in school where his favorite subject is science. He plans on graduating from high school and attending college to pursue a very noble profession in law enforcement. He plans on becoming a police officer and serving his beloved community. He has been a member of the Club for six months, having joined after encouragement from his friends. He attends the Club most days and loves to play basketball in the gymnasium or socialize with his friends in the Pearson Teen Center. “The Club provides a safe environment but the most important thing I have learned is respect, to respect our peers and to respect the staff.” Cayden plans on participating in the Summer Youth Employment program and is already entertaining work opportunities to take advantage of during the summer break from the school year.

Congratulations to June Youth of the Month Luis and Cayden.
