Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club names March Youth of the Month

Anthony E. and Jawan D. have been named March Youth of the Month for their enthusiastic participation in Club programs.

Anthony E., 11, while having been a Club member for only a year, has made a strong impression on the Club’s staff and members. Anthony formed connections with many of the staff including his Group Leader Ms. Lyasia (Milledge), Education Director Mr. Sean (O’Callaghan) and Membership Coordinator Ms. Katlyn (Campos). Anthony enjoys a wide variety of programs the Club has to offer. When he’s not out on the tennis court, his favorite program area is the Learning Center sharing, “We always have a fun activity, or a new game or a group discussion and it’s something I always look forward to”. Already thinking about his future, Anthony is interested in becoming a Commercial Pilot, but before working his way up to Airliners he looks forward to flying private jets. When asked what the Club means to him, Anthony expressed how the Club provides him with the opportunity to attend trips and new experiences. “The most important thing it’s given me is new friends. I’ve met some of my best friends here at the Club and that means a lot” says Anthony.

Jawan D., 15, a long-time member of the Club, has formed deep connections with Teen Program Director Ms. Breanna (Townsell), Group Leader Anton (Seaman) and Associate Director Ms. Desirae (O'Neill). “They've always been there for me and I feel like I can always go to them” says Jawan. As an enthusiastic athlete, Jawan is extremely passionate about Basketball and Football. He is often in the gymnasium shooting hoops or enjoying time on the Club’s outdoor court. When reflecting on his favorite memories of the Club, Jawan shared that he truly appreciates all the events and trips he's been able to attend as a member from the age of 9. “The Club helped me to be grow and mature, I feel like I've learned so much. It means a lot to me to see younger kids learning the same lessons”.

Congratulations to Anthony and Jawan, March Youth of the Month.
