Junior Youth of the Month is new member Diego O. who is six years old and in the first grade. Diego likes school where he gravitates towards math and reading. His favorite book is A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle, and his favorite movie is Sonic the Hedgehog. Diego has been with the Club for only a few weeks, but he is already relishing the experience, piquing his curiosity and making many friends. “I like to play soccer and the big Legos and blocks with my friends,” said Diego who especially enjoys the Club’s daily supper offered to Club members courtesy of a partnership with LI Cares, a food bank servicing nearly 400 member agencies in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

Senior Youth of the Month Isaias A. is ten years old and in the sixth grade. Isaias has been a Club member for four years and this is his second time earning this well-deserved title. He is a regular at the Club attending every day throughout the year as well as during the Summer program. He credits the Club for helping him better understand his homework assignments and improve his grades. In school, his preferred subjects are social studies and science, and he also likes to draw. But his absolute favorite pastime is playing sports, especially soccer and basketball. In fact, Isaias hopes to become a professional soccer or basketball player someday but, in the meantime, he is happy watching his favorite teams, the NY Knicks, FC Barcelona and the NY Giants.

The Youth of the Month program encourages outstanding conduct and recognizes the efforts youth are making to improve their attitude, schoolwork, listening skills, relationship with peers and overall demeanor at the Club. Visit glencovebgc.org for more information.
