Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month

Glen Cove Boy & Girls Club has named Marley A. and Ronaldo R. as the Youth of the Month for November.

Marley, 7, is in the first grade at Deasy Elementary School. Marley relishes in expressing herself through art and hopes to become a professional artist someday. She enjoys painting and her preferred art subject is flowers. In fact, one of her favorite books is There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Rose. Marley is also a consummate student. She likes all subjects in school, especially English, math and science. As a relatively new member of the Club, Marley has fully immersed herself in all the program offerings. She can often be found drawing and coloring in the Art Room, reading in the Learning Center, playing soccer in the Gymnasium or participating in expression and movement exercises in the Dance Room. Marley has made a lot of friends in the few months she has been a member and is quickly learning how to navigate the Club in order to fully appreciate the overall Club experience.

Ronaldo R, 14, is in the 9th grade at Glen Cove High School. Ronaldo is a linguist trying to master the English and Italian languages. He is an avid sportsman who plays soccer and will soon be playing football. When he is not playing his beloved game of soccer at the Sea Cliff Football Club, he is refereeing younger players. Ronaldo, who is an extremely responsible young man, would like to pursue a career in Law to become a defense attorney. “I like to defend people,” said Ronaldo. He has been a regular member of the Club for seven years. During this time, he has taken full advantage of the Club’s Power Hour and academic programs. “I used to be horrible at math and now I’m doing really well in the subject. The Club really helped me improve in Math and Social Studies.” As a teen member, Ronaldo is looking forward to participating in the Teen Program community service projects as well as enroll in the Summer Youth Employment program. “I’m looking forward to volunteering at the Club and working with the younger kids.” Ronaldo, who prides himself on being an older brother accountable for his younger sister’s well-being, is a great role model to the younger member

Congratulations to Marley and Ronaldo.
