Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month
Club members Lia M. and Kylah H. are starting the New Year with the coveted role of Youth of the Month for January.

Junior Youth of the Month Lia is six years old and in the first grade. She loves sports and art and hopes to work at the Club someday and at VAT 19, an online shopping place whose only criteria for selling the products they offer is ‘it's got to be curiously awesome’. Lia is a recent member, having joined the Club in July to participate in the Summer program. After a fun filled Summer experience Lia came back for the school year. “I just really like the Boys & Girls Club and I really like coming here,” said Lia, who is enjoying learning about sports and how to play sports at the Club. She also enjoys participating in the Club’s health and wellness center where she gets to cook with Group Leaders and make delicious but nutrition foods like healthy pizza and apple pie. Lia is dedicated to completing her schoolwork and tries to manage it on her own at the Club but takes comfort in knowing that if she needs help, it is readily available to her. “What I love most about the Club is that people care about me.”
Senior Youth of the Month, Kylah is 11 years old and in the sixth grade. She is an eager student who enjoys learning overall. Her favorite subjects are Math and English but she also finds the Sciences very exciting. I addition to academics, Kylah also loves participating in arts and gym. Kylah has a flair for the arts and structure as well and hopes to become an architect someday. As a future architect, she has been closely seeing the transformations taking place in her community is very excited about watching the developments of the new buildings going up in Glen Cove. Kylah has been a member for two years and attends the Club regularly. When at the Club, she tackles homework first and once that is complete, she can relax and take advantage of the many programs the Club as to offer. Kylah is especially looking forward to joining the Mentoring Program. “The Club is just a really great place to enjoy yourself, learn new things and make new friends. It’s a place where I feel at home and get a whole world of new experiences,” said Kylah.
Congratulations to Lia and Kylah, GCBGC YOM for January.
