Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month Banquet
The Banquet honored 22 members, the 2018 Youth of the Year and two Scholarship Recipients.
Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club held their Annual Youth of the Month Banquet to honor 22 distinguished Youth of the Month, the 2018 Youth of the Year and recipients of the Louis M. Sanford and Northwell Health Scholarships.
The Youth of the Month and Youth of the Year are Boys & Girls Club initiatives encouraging outstanding conduct and acknowledging the improvements youth are making with their school work, listening skills, personal growth, relationships and overall demeanor at the Club. The Youth of the Year is the Boys & Girls Club’s signature effort fostering leadership skills.
The Youth of the Month is a premiere recognition program focusing on the progress youth are making at the Club. Each month, staff selects two exceptional youths, a junior member between the ages 6-12 and a senior member between the ages 13-18 to be the Youth of the Month. Members are nominated based on their participation, positive attitude, helpfulness, attendance and achievements. Education Director, Sean O’Callaghan presented the 11 Junior Youths of the Month including Alexandra A., Ashley A, Darya B. Anthony B., Elijah G., Isaiah J., Robbie M., Angie M., Yessica V., Ashley V. and Julissa V. with their plaques and praised for them for their accomplishments. Senior members Jeanelly A., Junior C., Jawan D., Anastasia E., Michael G., Zulma O., Abdiel O., Chelsea P., Aaron P., Branden R. and Dillon S. received their awards from Teen Program Director, Breanna Townsell.

Trinity Guzman, 15, was awarded the Club’s most coveted title, Youth of the Year for her academic excellence, leadership abilities and dedication and commitment to the Club. Trinity is in the 10th grade and her goal is to pursue a career in medicine to become a Cardiothoracic Surgeon. She also looks forward to giving back to her community in the future.
In addition to honoring the incomparable youth the event also recognized Isabel Blas, recipient of the Louis M. Sanford scholarship and Cartier Funderburke, recipient of Northwell Glen Cove Hospital scholarship. Isabel will be attending SUNY New Paltz in the Fall while Carter will be heading to Georgia to attend Clarke Atlanta University.

“Recognition events like these are very important to our Club and our kids. We are thrilled to host this Banquet for our members and their families to celebrate these remarkable members. They worked very hard to achieve their successes and deserve to be appreciated for all of their efforts and achievements,” said Executive Director, Franca Trunzo.
