Glen Cove Gets Ready for 9th Annual National Night Out
The block party-style celebration features tours of the police department, children's activities and free food.

Glen Cove joins thousands of cities and towns across the country in thanking the local authorities for all they do during the nationwide National Night Out event.
All residents are encouraged to participate in Glen Cove’s ninth annual National Night Out held on Tuesday, Aug. 4 in downtown Glen Cove for a block party-style celebration.

The event will include tours of the police department, children’s activities, free food and refreshments.
There will also be lessons on firearms safety, distribution of child ID kits, emergency vehicle demonstrations, music and more.

The festivities will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“National Night Out is an outstanding event that provides our residents with an opportunity to build relationships with Glen Cove’s law enforcement officers and learn about the many programs and services offered by the City and community groups,” Mayor Reggie Spinello said.
The Reverend Craig Wright of the Calvary AME Church has been chosen as this year’s National Night Out honoree for his dedication to the community’s youth on behalf of Glen Cove’s Law Enforcement Community.
Police Chief William Whitton said it was the most important event the Glen Cove Police Department and PBA supports each year. “Safety and neighborhood unity all stem from the strength of a strong relationship between our department and the community we serve and protect,” he said.
Event sponsors include the Glen Cove Police Department, PBA, Glen Cove Youth Bureau, Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department, Glen Cove Housing Authority and local businesses.
