Glen Cove Graduate Earns Scholarship for Musical Achievement
Samantha Filippone is a singer, instrumentalist and conductor.

A Glen Cove High School graduate with a passion for music was the recent recipient of the 2016 Edward Miller Music Scholarship Fund.
Samantha Filippone is a singer, instrumentalist and conductor.
The student-musician was a member of the high school’s Select Chorale. As a member, she she performed at Saint Peter's Basilica before Pope Francis and led the altos during bimonthly sectional rehearsals.

Filippone sang solo soprano for NYSSMA and has performed in Nassau Music Educators Association's All County Chorus in 2014 and 2015.
As an instrumentalist, Filippone played baritone in Wind Ensemble, trumpet in Jazz Band, and cymbals in percussion ensemble. She also served as conductor of the Glen Cove Pep Band.

When she’s not singing, conducting or playing an instrument, Filippone was a member of the Tri-M Music Honors Society, the National Honors Society and President of the school's Drama Club.
Filippone will attend Hofstra University Honors College in the fall.
