Glen Cove Hospital Community Meeting on Specialized Disease Treatment Center Set for Wednesday

Medical experts will share facts about how the Ebola virus is transmitted, and NS-LIJ's preparedness to treat confirmed patients.

Glen Cove Hospital and the North Shore-LIJ Health System will hold a community meeting at the Glen Cove Mansion Wednesday, from 6-9 p.m.

News of the meeting comes less than a week after the health system announced that Glen Cove Hospital would become a temporary specialized treatment center for those affected by the Ebola virus.

At Wednesday’s meeting, experts from the health system will speak about how the Ebola virus is transmitted, as well as Glen Cove Hospital’s new Specialized Disease Treatment Center.

“It’s a temporary unit,” a NS-LIJ spokesman told Patch.

“Two rooms will be open in the next day or two,” he added. “It could be used for non-Ebola patients, but in the near term, it will be set aside exclusively for any potential Ebola patients.”
