Glen Cove Hospital Opens Relocated Ambulatory Surgery Unit

Glen Cove Hospital has relocated its ambulatory surgery unit on the hospital’s newly renovated third floor.

The unit is for patients who are undergoing breast; ear, nose and throat; rectal; abdominal; urological; cosmetic; and plastic surgery and can accommodate patients and their families from admission to discharge of the patients.

“As the hospital’s surgery volume has been increasing, it was important for us to have a beautiful space for patients and their families to wait prior to surgery and recover after their outpatient procedure,” said Susan Kwiatek, DNP, executive director of the hospital.

Patients who undergo procedures in the operating room will initially recover in the post anesthesia care unit on the first floor before being transferred to the new ambulatory surgery unit.

For patients who need to stay overnight at the hospital after their surgery, they will have a room on the surgical inpatient unit located on the second floor.
