Glen Cove Resident Selected for 'The Wendy Williams Show' Internship

The student will serve as a production assistant on the daytime talk show.

A college student from Glen Cove is spending her summer working in live television after being selected for an internship with “The Wendy Williams Show.”

Emily Anderson, a High Point University junior majoring in electronic media, looks to have a career as a producer or stage manager.

“I love the thrill of the tense environment throughout the full hour it takes to produce the show,” Anderson said about her internship. “It’s amazing to see these people work together like a well oiled machine that wouldn’t function if even one crew member was missing.”

  • Perform research on celebrities and show topics
  • Help gather props and cue cards to prepare for each episode
  • Help with check-in and seating of audience members
  • Help manage green room, where she greets show guests and makes sure they are prepared to go on air.
  • Create a “Street Talk” segment, where she shows what it’s like to be an intern for the show.

“My course work at HPU – mainly my video production classes – has helped me so much,” Anderson said. “Creating the segment requires knowing how to operate the camera, edit, produce, direct and even appear on-camera. I already know how to use the equipment. It’s great to see how each role of a production comes together, just like the opportunities we have to perform and learn in the TV studio at HPU.”
