Glen Cove School Repair Bond: Forum Planned Ahead Of Vote
Two propositions are each up for vote, one of which can only pass if the other is authorized.
GLEN COVE, NY — Glen Cove residents are invited to attend a community forum days before a scheduled bond vote that would fund upgrades and repairs to schools.
The forum, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Glen Cove High School, is the last in a series of meetings, building tours and presentations before the Oct. 22 vote. It will begin at 7 p.m.
Residents are also welcome to attend the district's board of education meeting, which will follow the forum.

Proposition No. 1

This bond would replace inside and outside doors, as well as update hardware for security; replace outside windows to stop leaks and improve security; renovate the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; repair the dangerous electrical system at Wunsch auditorium and improve lighting and sound system; add more classrooms to curb overcrowding; move transformers a safe distance away from school buildings; repair outdated fire alarms; renovate and expand classrooms and cafeterias; bring buildings into compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act; install bathrooms and elevators; and renovate 50-year old science labs.
Proposition No. 2
This bond, which can only be authorized if the first proposition passes, would add even more classrooms; repair parking lots to address flooding and damage; renovate outdated music and art rooms; replace outdoor windows; repair and upgrade athletic fields, field press box, and tennis courts; restore masonry and walkways; and replace flooring ceilings and lighting.
