Glen Cove's July 4 Festivities

The weekend will feature music, fireworks and a children's bike parade.

There’s something to do every day during the July 4 weekend in Glen Cove.

Residents can get ready for fireworks, a classic child’s bike parade, music downtown and in the park along with beach, picnic and playground fun at Morgan Memorial Park.

“Glen Cove is the place to be for July 4 weekend,” Mayor Reggie Spinello said.

Friday, July 1

Downtown Sounds’ 2016

  • 7:30 p.m.
  • The series kicks-off with a free Veterans Concert with the Patriot Brass Band at the Village Square.
  • Rain location is the Wunsch Auditorium at Robert M. Finley Middle School.

Sunday, July 3:

The 2016 Morgan Park Summer Music Festival

  • 7:30 p.m.
  • The festival kicks-off with a Salute to America – Concert Pops of Long Island. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy the concert at Morgan Memorial Park.

Monday, July 4:

Glen Cove’s Annual July 4th Children’s Bike Parade.

  • Bikes, scooters, wagons, strollers and battery-powered vehicles will roll down the streets at 10 a.m. from Finley Middle School to downtown Glen Cove to the Village Square.
  • Meet at the Robert M. Finley Middle School horseshoe at 9:30 a.m. for bike decorating. Parade ends at the Village Square in downtown Glen Cove.
  • Rain date is July 5.
  • For the bike contest, winners in three categories (Most Patriotic, Most Original and Best Group) will be recognized with special prizes and acknowledgement by Mayor Spinello. All children are invited to participate.
  • There will be free refreshments, giveaways and a patriotic singalong.

Northwinds Symphonic Band performs at Morgan Memorial Park

  • 7:30 p.m.
  • Under the musical direction of Helen Bauer and guest conductor Barbara Sherwin, this year’s program will feature familiar marches, patriotic favorites, selection from the King and I, and the music of Irving Berlin and John Williams.
  • Performances will include “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “ Flight of the Bumblebee and Sousa’s Harmonica Wizard,” “You Raise Me Up” and “God Bless America.”
  • In the event of rain, the concert will be held indoors at St. Patrick’s Church Parish Hall at the same scheduled time.

Fireworks by Grucci

  • 9:15 p.m.
  • To close the concert and honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, Northwinds will perform “Stars and Stripes Forever” while Fireworks by Grucci go off in the sky.
  • Fireworks rain date is July 5 at 9:15 p.m

Bags and backpacks are subject to search for contraband, including alcohol and fireworks.
Parking restrictions will be in effect in the Landing neighborhood on July 4. There will be no parking on Germaine Street, Landing Road or McLoughlin Street west of Carpenter Street starting at 9 a.m. Parking for individuals with Handicap Parking Permits will be available in the Morgan Park parking lot.
Safe boating is encouraged for residents who will watch the fireworks from the Long Island Sound.
