Glen Cove's Student Choir Gets Ready to Perform at the Vatican

A performance of a lifetime.

Glen Cove High School’s Select Chorale is currently preparing for the performance of a lifetime.

Chorale members have been selected to sing alongside the Sistine Chapel Choir during a mass led by Pope Francis at the Vatican during the first-ever Children’s Choir Festival For Epiphany.

The students in grades 10-12 will begin their seven-day trip to Rome on Jan. 1.

They will perform twice at the Vatican, once at the Church of San Lorenzo and once in Assisi.

Chorale members have raised nearly $40,000 for the trip thanks to the support of local businesses, officials and members of the community. Students began fundraising last June.

The Select Chorale is no stranger to showcasing their talents to world leaders.

The students performed for President Barack Obama just two years ago under the guidance of Ed Norris, director of choral music at Glen Cove High School.
