Heroin Dealers Arrested After Fatal Overdose In Glen Cove: Police

BREAKING: Glen Cove Police arrested the alleged dealers just two hours into the investigation.

A man and woman were arrested for selling heroin to a 27-year-old who fatally overdosed on Tuesday in Glen Cove, police say.

Glen Cove Police responded to a possible drug overdose on Fairmont Place to find the victim dead at 7:24 p.m.

Authorities began an investigation into who sold the person heroin and arrested Eveen Cullum, 26, of Glen Cove, and Chelsea Prendergast, 25, of Glen Head, within two hours, police said.

"We are fortunate that our community has not suffered fatal overdoses to the level of other communities, but we are obviously not immune," Glen Cove Police Chief William Whitton said in a press release. "Today's tragedy highlights the need for everyone to be hypervigilant in the fight against heroin addiction."

Cullum was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.

Prendergast was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance,

They will be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
