Lavine Grant Helps Expand Cardiac Imaging Services at Glen Cove Hospital
October 22, 2026
GLEN COVE, NEW YORK – Northwell Glen Cove Hospital has a new tool for cardiac care thanks in part to a grant secured by Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore). The grant, in the amount of $250,000, helped Northwell open the R.H. Cushman Cardiac Imaging Center, a newly built space within Glen Cove Hospital, which includes a state-of-the-art advanced cardiac CT scanner. Lavine joined hospital officials for a formal announcement of the grant and the new center’s ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday (10/22/26). According to the hospital, the new scanner uses the Revolution Apex platform that produces detailed images of the heart and coronary arteries. It’s expected to reduce the need to transport patients to external facilities for cardiac imaging, potentially saving critical time when rapid diagnosis and treatment are essential.
Amar Shah, MD, Cardiothoracic Radiology, said: “When a patient presents with symptoms that may indicate a serious cardiac condition, having sophisticated imaging technology immediately available can help our physicians make informed decisions more efficiently and determine the appropriate next steps in care."
Assemblymember Lavine said: "Our community deserves access to the same advanced medical technology available at major medical centers, and this helps make that possible. The $250,000 grant is an investment in Glen Cove and in the health and well-being of the people who call this community home. I am proud to have helped support a project that will strengthen local health care and bring advanced cardiac services closer to the residents who need them."
