Lavine Responds to Guns & Ammo Store With Letter to Glen Cove Leaders

August 28, 2024

GLEN COVE, NEW YORK – Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore) has sent a letter to the mayor and members of the Glen Cove City Council in response to the opening of a store selling guns and ammunition right in the heart of downtown Glen Cove. Glen Cove Guns & Ammo, at 44 B Glen Street, is open for business despite the concerns of residents and questions about its permitting.

In his letter Lavine points out that, "The 'guns and ammo' store is just feet away from 'Madeleine’s Play Cafe,' an outstanding addition to our City designed to attract children." Adding, "The 'guns and ammo' store will not provide a welcoming environment for any new retail interests intended to appeal to youngsters and young families and will in fact substantially inhibit the development of any such highly desired commercial interests."

Lavine’s letter in its entirety is attached.
