LIU Names Glen Cove Officer Criminal Justice Student of The Year

Congratulations to Det. Lt. John Nagle, who graduated from LIU Post on May 6.

Congratulations are in order for Glen Cove Det. Lt. John Nagle, who was named the 2016 Outstanding Graduate Criminal Justice Student of the Year by LIU Post College of Liberal Arts And Sciences.

Nagle was honored at the University’s 61st Annual Awards Ceremony at the Hillwood Commons Lecture Hall and received his Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice on May 6 at LIU Post.

“On behalf of the Glen Cove Police Department we take great pride in Lt. Detective Nagle’s recognition as this is a true reflection of his leadership and personal dedication to the importance of continuing his education to best serve our community and the detectives under his command,” said Chief Whitton.

Nagle’s strong academic standing also allowed him to be inducted into the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society at graduation.

When Dr Harvey Kushner, head of the LIU Criminal Justice Department, presented him with this honor he joked that Nagle was the commanding officer of the Glen Cove Detective Division and promised he wasn’t there on official business.
