Native American Feast at Garvies Point Museum

Thanksgiving Native American Feast

Our celebration of northeastern Native American culture has been held annually the weekend before Thanksgiving for more than 30 years. Participants can enjoy hands-on activities including pottery making, primitive fire-building and on-site cooking demonstrations with sampling (including our famous popcorn soup), authentic Native American food displays with sampling, artifacts and tool technology, face painting with natural pigments, and use of the atlatl for spear throwing. Native American films will be shown. Activities held both indoor and outdoors, rain or shine.

Participants can also take this opportunity to view the museum’s exhibition hall, which explores Long Island Native American culture and archaeology, as well as New York State and Long Island geology. You can also visit our interactive “woodland village.”

Activities ongoing from 10 am - 4 pm. Fun for all, all ages welcome.
