No Smoke Alarms Present – 1 Minor Injury, 3 People Displaced After Glen Cove House Fire: NCFM

Fire marshals say there is serious damage to the house.

GLEN COVE, NY — Three people were displaced, and one minor civilian injury was reported after a house fire in Glen Cove on Wednesday morning, fire marshals said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said Nassau County FireCom received 911 calls at 10:50 a.m., and the Glen Cove Volunteer FD responded to the Beverly Rd. home.

One man was brought to North Shore Glen Cove for evaluation for minor smoke inhalation – no firefighter injuries reported, fire marshals said. One occupant self-evacuated, and there is serious damage to the house, fire marshals said.

No smoke alarms were present or observed as required, fire marshals said.

The fire was brought under control within 40 minutes with 50 firefighters on scene, fire marshals said.

The Glen Cove Volunteer FD received mutual aid assistance from Sea Cliff FD, Roslyn FD, and Glenwood FD – all firefighting operations were under the command of Chief Justin Valeo, fire marshals said.

NCFM Investigators were on scene along with NCPD Arson/Bomb detectives – the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, fire marshals said. The City of Glen Cove Building Dept. was on scene evaluating damage to the house, fire marshals said.
