Glen Cove, NY - On Sunday, November 8, 2026, 3 pm at the Wunsch Arts Center, The Northwinds Symphonic Band will present an afternoon of exhilarating music entitled Salute To Veterans. Admission is free.

Under the direction of conductors Helen P. Bauer and Concetta Stevens, the band is proud to recognize the servicemen and women of all the armed forces with music selections that honor their commitment, loyalty, and allegiance to our country.

The program will feature works by American composers; from John Williams’ light-hearted march from the film 1941, to the drama-filled Gettysburg: The Third Day, by Jay Dawson, complete with a battlefield cannonade. Other program highlights will be music by Steven Reineke, James Swearington, and Jerker Johansson, all of whom have painted musical pictures depicting the valor of our American soldiers at war. The band will honor each division of the military with Salute To The Armed Forces and perform the perennial favorite Sousa march, The Stars and Stripes Forever.

In addition, Broadway singer and actress Amy Jo Phillips will join the band to sing the inspirational You Raise Me Up and the classic ballad Blue Moon. Tenor Joe Stroppel will sing the patriotic hymn I Vow To Thee, My Country and God Bless America.

The Wunsch Arts Center is located at Robert Finley Middle School, 1 Forest Avenue, Glen Cove, NY 11542, and is wheelchair accessible.
