Police: Man in Possession of Handgun, Drugs Arrested in Glen Cove

The man reportedly ran away from police and threw a 32 caliber revolver on the ground Monday night.

A Locust Valley man who threw an illegal handgun on the ground and had drugs in his possession was arrested in Glen Cove on Monday at 9:20 p.m., police said.

Glen Cove officers attempted to speak to a “suspicious individual” on the side of an apartment building at 135 Glen Cove Ave. when the man ran to the back of the building and threw a 32 caliber revolver on the ground, authorities report.

Daniel Hall, 38, was arrested at the scene. Authorities then reportedly found marijuana and cocaine in his pockets.

“As a result of excellent police work, we were fortunate to get an illegal handgun off the streets,” Glen Cove Detective Lieutenant John Nagle said. “One less illegal gun out in our community is a win for the police department as well as the community at large.”

Hall was charged with third degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana.

He was arraigned Tuesday in District Court in Hempstead and is being held on $50,000 bail.
