SAFE Coalition: On Opioids and the Brain
Steve Chassman, Executive Director of LICADD, will present The Opioid Epidemic – How it Touches All Our Lives on May 14.

The SAFE Glen Cove Coalition is conducting an opioid prevention awareness campaign entitled "Keeping Glen Cove SAFE" to educate and update the community regarding the risks of opioid use and its consequences.
On Monday, May 14th, 7 p.m. at Glen Cove City Hall, Mr. Steve Chassman, LCSW, CASAC, Executive Director of the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD), will present The Opioid Epidemic – How it Touches All Our Lives: An Overview on substance abuse and addiction, prescription drug misuse/diversion, intervention strategies and treatment options.
The opioid epidemic in the United States is a serious concern. Data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC)and Prevention show that anyone can be at risk. Opioid dependence does not discriminate based on sex, age, race, or region of the country.

The SAFE Coalition encourages everyone to use this presentation as a primer for recognizing the severity of today’s opioid crisis. Gain a deeper understanding of opioid dependence—including its prevalence, pathophysiology, and effect and recognizing evidence-based approaches to help combat this chronic, relapsing brain disease.
