See Richie Cannata Friday in Glen Cove

Richie Cannata performs at Downtown Sounds, the free music series in the Village Square in Glen Cove on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Cannata has worked with such luminaries as Billy Joel, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, the Beach Boys, Bernie Williams and more. Born and raised in Brooklyn and later Long Island, Cannata studied classical piano in his youth, as well as clarinet, flute, keyboards and saxophone. It was tenor saxophone, however, that is now his primary instrument.  

Cannata performed several times with Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden. He also toured with the Beach Boys and recently contributed to Brian Wilson’s new CD.  

Cannata is also a music producer, and has produced albums for Phoebe Snow, Rita Coolidge, Cory Hart, and Tommy Shaw. It was his extensive work behind the scenes in music that lead him to open Cove City Sound Studios, which he co-owns with his son, Eren.
