On Sunday, August 6, Morgan Park Summer Music Festival will present Swingtime Big Band. The free performance begins at 7:00 p.m. in Morgan Park.
Swingtime Big Band, led by Steve Shaiman, is a 20-piece swing band comprised of master interpreters of the incomparable music of the Swing Era. Hailed by The New York Times as “Musicians who make the sounds of the pre-rock era rock,” and by Newsday as “Long Island’s leading professional big band…dedicated to the Great American Songbook,” the ensemble performs Big Band classics as originally recorded, bringing to life the style and the spirit of this uniquely American musical style. Rejoice in the timeless sounds of Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Les Brown, Harry James, Gene Krupa, Woody Herman and Stan Kenton, among others.
“We all love a great swing band. Bring your children and grandchildren and introduce them to swing and transport them to the 1930s and 40s - the Golden Age of the Big Bands. This concert is not to be missed. This will be a good one!” said the festival chairman, Tom Suozzi.

All concerts are held at Morgan Memorial Park in Glen Cove, overlooking the harbor at Germaine Street between Landing Road and McLoughlin Street. The free concerts begin at 7 pm.
The Title Sponsor for the 2023 season is The Terian Family and Rallye Motor Company. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the opening of the Rallye Motor Company’s first dealership in Glen Cove. Since its founding, the Company has steadfastly manifested what it means to be a good corporate citizen and neighbor. Morgan Park Summer Music Festival is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization. The high-caliber professional concerts offered each summer are free to the public and are completely funded through generous donations from businesses and individuals.
