Tell Us: Should Glen Cove Ban E-cigarettes in No-smoking areas?

New concerns emerge about the safety of electronic cigarettes.

Should electronic cigarettes be banned in no-smoking areas? Glen Cove Mayor Reginald Spinello said yes, according to Newsday.

The city is considering how to word a resolution that would include e-cigarettes in its  ordinances that spell out where smoking is not allowed, Newsday reported.

Thoughts to prohibit e-cigarettes in non-smoking areas come at a time when the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are reporting that the number of calls to poison centers involving e-cigarette liquids containing nicotine rose from one per month in September 2010 to 215 per month in February 2014.

These findings have raised concerns about e-cigarettes around the country.

“The hope is that when we talk about ‘no smoking’ they should say that includes e-cigarettes, too,” Spinello told Newsday.
